NLPA CODE OF CONDUCT

Code of Conduct

Youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional development of children. It is, therefore; essential for parents, coaches and officials to encourage youth athletes and embrace the values of good sportsmanship. Any adults who are spectators or involved in youth sports should lead by example by being models of good sportsmanship. This means we expect parents, guardians and spectators to demonstrate fairness, respect and self-control.

THEREFORE, ALL PARENTS, COACHES AND SPECTATORS WILL ABIDE BY THE FOLLOWING RULES:

1.     I (and my guests) will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other event.

2.     I (and my guests) will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike conduct with any official, coach, player, or parent such as booing and taunting; refusing to shake hands; or using profane language or gestures.

3.    I will not engage, or encourage my child to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee, such as booing and taunting, refusing to shake hands, or using profane language or gestures.

4.    I will not engage, or encourage my child to engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or wellbeing of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

5.    I will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.

6.    I will not use, or encourage any other person to use drugs or alcohol while at games, and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in any league event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

7.    I will be a positive role model for my child and encourage sportsmanship by showing respect and courtesy, and by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, officials and spectators at every game, practice or event.

8.    I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

9.    I will respect the officials and their authority during games, and will never question, discuss, or confront coaches at the game field, and will take time to speak with the site coordinator with any concerns I may have.

10. I will teach my child that doing one’s best is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or his/her performance.

11. I will treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.

12. I will remember that youth sports are played for fun and the game is played for the youth and not for the adults.

13. Parents/fans are prohibited from being on the playing field of play/ during practice/games unless they are a coach-appointed volunteer serving a specific purpose.

VIOLATIONS THAT RESULTS IN CONSEQUENCES:

1. Use profanity, talk “trash”, or taunt others before, during or after any game.
2. Display any unsportsmanlike behavior.
3. Criticize my teammates or players from other teams.
4. Act in any way that may incite spectators.
5. Willfully harm or harass any of my teammates
6. Arguing or showing disrespect to football officials or coaches.
7. Fighting/Threats
8. Lack of Cooperation/Obstruction
9. Running-Up Score Probation unless found to be intentional, then suspension for 1 game.
10. Ejection from Game – Automatic Suspension for 1 game
Violations of the above may result in a verbal and/or written warning (1st offense)
suspension (2nd offense): and/or expulsion (3rd offense).

ADULT/PLAYER OFFENSES & CONSEQUENCES

Individuals who fail to abide by the foregoing while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in any game will be subject to disciplinary action including, but not limited to, the following in any order or combination as decided by the league:

·         Verbal warning issued by the league.

·         Written warning issued by the league.

·         Immediate ejection from the game.

·         Suspension from a game, or multiple games.

·         Removal from the league.

Any player, coach, or parent ejected from a game will automatically be suspended for one game (There will be no refund). All ejections are reviewed by the league, and if necessary can be extended to multiple games. A second ejection will be an automatic two game suspension, and possible removal from the league. A third ejection is removal from the league WITH NO REFUND.

I, FOR MYSELF, MY SPOUSE, AND CHILD/WARD, HAVE READ THIS PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS,  I, FOR MYSELF, MY SPOUSE, AND CHILD AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT, LEAGUE REFUND POLICY, AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS  WHEN IN THE FUTURE I CLICK ON AN “I AGREE,” “I CONSENT,” OR OTHER SIMILARLY WORDED “BUTTON” OR ENTRY FIELD WITH MY MOUSE, KEYSTROKE, OR OTHER COMPUTER DEVICE, YOUR AGREEMENT OR CONSENT OR WAIVER WILL BE LEGALLY BINDING AND ENFORCEABLE AND THE LEGAL EQUIVALENT OF YOUR HANDWRITTEN SIGNATURE.
